Jonathan Purcell is a Californian in Burgundy (the village of Gamay no less), making really characterful wines. He worked with Philippe Pacalet before starting his own wines in 2017. 
 
Vins Noe were part of our opening selection but fell off the list for logistical reasons. We were delighted to reconnect at a salon this year and visit (and taste) the range after that. Now working long term with three plots and buying in other grapes the wines are better than ever.
 
Theres a lovely purity to the wines, reds (and some whites) undergo carbonic fermentations, mostly whole bunch, never any sulphur. A great range.
 
A lighter version than some of the earlier ones, from two plots in Mercurey, organic of course.
