Founded in 1802, Weingut Klosterhof, is now run by brothers Dominique and Benjamin, who are currently moving to biodynamic farming. We first came across them last year and loved the green fruited Kabinetten, though this years 'noble sweet' wines are also exceptionally good in a vintage where little was made. A Producer to watch for sure.
Mosel Fine Wines say:
The 2022er Brauneberger Klostergarten Riesling Auslese, as it is referred to on the front label (the reference to “lange Goldkapsel” is left for the
back label and with a long golden capsule), was made from 70-year-old (the oldest part the Estate owns in this vineyard) grapes harvested at 121°
Oechsle from 100% botrytized fruit in the south to south-west facing part of the vineyard and was fermented in stainless steel tank down to noblesweet
levels of residual sugar (139 g/l). It offers a delicately reserved yet finely aromatic and ripe nose of William’s pear, citrus jelly, candied
grapefruit, quince, spices, herbs, smoke, anise, and verbena. The wine turns out to be smooth and sweet on the honeyed palate. The long finish
has great complexity, but is still largely covered by sweetness at this early stage. So patience will be required for it to fully develop its greatness
over time. 2037-2062
