Founded in 1802, Weingut Klosterhof, is now run by brothers Dominique and Benjamin, who are currently moving to biodynamic farming. We first came across them last year and loved the green fruited Kabinetten, though this years 'noble sweet' wines are also exceptionally good in a vintage where little was made. A Producer to watch for sure.
Mosel Fine Wines say:
The 2022er Brauneberger Klostergarten Riesling Auslese was made from 70-year-old (the oldest part the Estate owns in this vineyard) grapes
harvested at 95° Oechsle from partially (5%) botrytized fruit in the south to south-west facing part of the vineyard and was fermented in stainless
steel tank down to sweet levels of residual sugar (93 g/l). It directly captivates one’s attention as very aromatic and direct fruity and ripe notes come
out of the glass. Jasmine, lavender, Conference pear, melon, guava, rose, and smoke are wrapped into fresh scents of mint, spices, and
gooseberry. The wine is fully sweet and juicy on the exotic and aromatic palate. Exotic fruits are coated into honey and add to the ripe side of this
Auslese. The finish is nicely direct and light, with herbal and zesty flavors. This Auslese with its flamboyant aromas is impressive. 2030-2042
