Robert and Derek are Madame Flock. They are in the Terrassen Mosel, where a small band of winemakers are shaking things up. Wild ferments, no herbicides and just a little sulphur on bottling. The vineyards are crazily steep and hard to work, the wines have just the right amount of crazy too. We love them.

Only 304 bottles from this tiny parcel overlooking the 12th century Niederburg castle, 2-4 days skin contact, this is more Jura than Mosel.

Mosel Fine Wines say:

The 2021er The Wolfgang Limited Edition with lot L-Nr: MF 007 2022 is a bone-dry Riesling made along natural lines from grapes picked on 60-70- year-old un-grafted vines in a very steep part of the Koberner Weissenberg which saw 2-4 days of skin contact before being fermented without intervention and matured in Barrique for 18 months before being bottled with no filtering, no fining, and with very little SO2 added (total SO2 is below 5 mg/l). This yellow-colored wine offers a beautiful and quite aromatic nose made of apple, mango, whipped cream, a hint of “natural” funk, and citrusy elements. It is still a tad backward on the palate where a touch of volatile acidity still needs to integrate. But the classy creamy and herbal feel in the nicely fruity and only subtly “funky” finish already more than hints at the wine’s underlying beauty. 2024-2028
