Founded in 1802, Weingut Klosterhof, is now run by brothers Dominique and Benjamin, who are currently moving to biodynamic farming. We first came across them last year and loved the green fruited Kabinetten, though this years 'noble sweet' wines are also exceptionally good in a vintage where little was made. A Producer to watch for sure.
Mosel Fine Wines Say:
The 2022er Brauneberger Klostergarten Riesling Spätlese Leni (Leni is the first name of Benjamin Thomas’ first daughter) was made from 50-yearold
vines harvested at 87° Oechsle in a north-west facing parcel of old vines inherited from family and was fermented in stainless steel tank down to
sweet levels of residual sugar (72 g/l). It shows a very subtle and elegant nose of white flowers, minty herbs, cassis, smoke, violet, and a hint of
anise. The wine is superbly delicate and airy on the palate, yet gains intensity as it unfolds into a very long and focused finish. Fresh spices and
mint bring a lot of energy and freshness to the after-taste. This is a great Spätlese in the making. 2030-2047
